- I'm going to speak about travelling.
- A bit in general but maybe in my own experience
- To begin with I would say that travelling is the most profitable investment we can make, apart from buying a house, of course.
- I don’t think is a matter of money, but a matter of priorities
- I mean, you can be loaded and you simply don’t like travelling. That happens to many people.
- You can spend a lot of money being in a good hotel in León, Much more money than you can spend on a trip to South Africa or many other countries in the world. You can book them for a son.
- I’d say it’s an investment because travelling, for me, broaden my mind, makes my life richer by living new experiences in a totally different background.
- For instance, when we went travelling in Poland, in the South, to visit Auschwitz, in the Silesian Region, we had the opportunity to speak with old Jewish who were taken prisoner in the concentration camp of Birkenau. It was very difficult because there are just a few survivors.
- We not only have the chance to visit the camp but also we could live the history with the survivors, and that was extremely moving.
- Well, it was so great that I was really excited to hear first hand impressions, emotions, concerns and challenges from amazing experiences.
- I think that travelling is a journey of self-discovery as well, especially when you go on your own and off the beaten track.
- I know that it’s much easier when everything runs smoothly in a package tour and everything is well organized; unfortunately, this way can scarcely develop you as a person.
- For instance I remember when I first went to Scotland with my pupils, I was young, I didn’t speak English, I weren’t able to communicate people but I had to because one night, we were in Edinburgh, a really well known place, especially because of its Castle, and one person from the group started vomiting, he had high temperature and became unconscious. He remains in the Hospital for over two days (he was allergic to food that he had eaten) He should’ve known the result of his behaviour. Anyway. I had to confront and overcome my fears because I had to ask for help. Fortunately my pupil recovered from his disease and everything was ok but it was very difficult for me. Since then I’ve got used to dealing with setbacks
- I realized what my strengths and my weaknesses were at that time.
- I think that travelling is a special and unique way to enjoy life, enjoy different experiences, and discover yourself in a totally different place where you usually live and do routine things,
- That’s all I have to say by now, I hope that my comments will help you to rank your priorities. And don’t forget to enjoy your next trip.
- Thank you.
